The Oregon Premier League, under the sanctioning of US Club Soccer, operates a highly competitive U11-U14 league aimed at providing a high level of competition for competitive clubs in Oregon and Southwest Washington. With a 12-14 game season operating from early September through early November, the OPL is structured to provide participating teams the right level of competition for teams, maintaining a challenging environment for indidvidual and team development.
National Premier League and Premier Divisions
Teams in our National Premier League (NPL) and Premier Divisions play a 12-14 game schedule from early September through the first weekend in November. Teams are placed in the NPL and Premier Divisions based on qualification through the previous year’s standings; generally, the two teams finishing at the bottom of the NPL Division will be relegated to the Premier Division the following Fall Season, and the teams finishing in the top two in the Premier Division are promoted to the NPL Division for the next Fall Season. There are similar adjustments made, but are not automatic, through the rest of the divisions.
The teams finishing in the top four of the NPL Division automatically qualify for a place in the Northwest Champions League.
First, Second and Third Divisions
Teams in these divisions play a 12 game schedule from early September through the end of October. Teams are placed in these divisions based on the strength of their results from the previous Fall Season, as well as coach and Director of Coaching recommendation. The only divisions in which automatic promotion and relegation occurs is between the NPL and Premier Divisions; the remaining divisions are formed based on the strength of the teams, and can range anywhere from 6 to 14 teams.
All divisions are formed based on the number of entrants per age group. Divisions are projected based upon DOC recommendation and the prior Fall Season’s results. Each participating club’s DOC is given the projected divisions so they can request any changes for their teams. Then, all divisions are approved and ratified at a meeting of participating club DOCs in early August.
